Well I messed up keeping up with the past couple of posts but I have only a couple of days off before classes start up again. So for the break I'm working on getting gradient mapping working more streamlined for working in color first. Right now I'm working on writing a program that will pull in a whole folder of images convert them into two greyscales based on hue, saturation, and value. if I can get it working I can reduce memory taken up by images by 1/3rd. If I use a color swatch I can reduce by 2/3rds.

Then there's also this hair I worked out the day before and forgot to upload.
Came out pretty decent, I will be trying the technique out on my current character in ACG later on tonight.

Well today I textured the Angler Mage from last lab. With a bit more time I could have refined the shadows and highlights or at least I now know I need to practice drawing textures alot more before I can do them efficiently.

Did some small quick character concepts today in class, we made one of the characters we came up with and laid out the UVs for them all in one 4 hour lab luckily with the 500 tri limit it kept any of us from going overboard with our models. Top left to bottom right are; an angler fish wearing a robe, a crab inspired by one of my buddies in class, a robot head with arms for ears, a evil squirrel with robot legs, a tiny dragon , and the robot I did a character sheet for in one of my previous classes.
I decided to go with the angler fish for my character model, it turned out pretty good considering it took me longer than most to decide which of my concepts I would do.

Current Classes
Well I haven't been keeping with those sketches I was hoping to do more regularly. Just simple 5 minute deals, but since I'm missing a few I might as well cover what I am doing in class at the moment. Right now the two classes being covered this month are Game Technologies and Advanced Game Characters. Now I am keeping up with Game Technologies pretty well, the class is structured like a workshop, having all assignments completed in lab, while they are working out how they or if they will change it to best fit with the new degree program. I am stumbling here and there with AGC, they are using our group of students to test out having us do an entire character from start to finish rather than doing bits and pieces of other characters to learn it in portions. I'm a bit behind but hopefully this weekend I will have a chance to catch up on my character.

Daily Sketch 5-13-12
Starting to try a sketch a day type thing as suggested by many of my teachers and most recently by Peet Cooper. Hopefully I can keep it up but we will see how it goes.
Starting Off
OK so I guess an introduction should be first post. I'm currently a Game Art student at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. I have been meaning to get this blog started for a while now but it looks like as I am drawing my time in the Game Art degree to a close It is getting more and more important and I have to start setting time aside to get this done.
I am going to be using this blog to try and showcase my art and give a basic goings-on with what is happening with me.
